Our Glossary is designed to disseminate the
technical terms that you will come across when
looking to procure a new telephone system or

WAN (Wide Area Network) on a dial up basis,
without the need for a permanent, expensive,
leased data link.
LAN telephony
The convergence of voice and
data on a LAN, eliminating the need for separate
voice and data networks within an organisation.
Leased Line
The convergence of voice and
data on a LAN, eliminating the need for separate

Least Costs Routing
A feature of a telephone system that automatically connects an outgoing telephone call with the telephone service that costs the least to that location at that time of day. Depending on how it is programmed, least cost routing will either drop down to the second most-efficient service if the first is not available, or it will give the caller a busy signal.
